Simmone & Don’s Celebration
Every wedding tells a unique story, but Simmone and Don’s journey, spanning ten years, culminated in a Red Rock Resort wedding in Las Vegas that was far from ordinary. Their big day unfolded against the backdrop of a non-traditional venue – a corner penthouse suite at Red Rock Resort overlooking the iconic Las Vegas Strip and the beautiful Red Rock Canyon.
The Meyers’ love story began a decade ago, an international connection sparked while working together at a restaurant in New Jersey. Simmone, originally from Australia, came to the States for college but found more than an education – she found Don. When it came to the proposal, it was as unique as their love story. Happening over Thai food on the couch, Don declared his love with a simple, “I love the shit out of you,” and presented Simmone with a ring designed to symbolize their extremes…
“He designed the ring so that there are two marquise diamonds and two round ones on either side of my epic rock – they represent us and our two miniature dachshunds. We are both extremes – over the top and completely chill.”
– Bride, Simmone
Choosing a Red Rock Resort wedding as their destination was a deliberate process. Living in New Jersey with family and friends flying in from around the world, the couple aimed for something unexpected, even by Vegas standards. The penthouse 0ne80 Suite at Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas, with its panoramic views, was the perfect canvas for their non-traditional wedding.
The theme of the day was “Rock ‘n’ Roll Black Tie,” manifesting in a sea of black decor, moody jewel tones, and an atmosphere of rock stars. The wedding was a tribute to the couple’s commitment to making every detail uniquely them…
“Everything we did was uniquely us – from my studded boots, his spade cuff links (I have a spade tattoo for him), the floral choices and all the black details. The most important part of the day for me was our personalized vows.”
– Simmone
…Every element spoke to their personalities and shared meaning.
The vows, a cornerstone of any wedding, were particularly touching. Despite opting for a first look, the ceremony brought forth genuine emotions. Don’s tears at the altar were a sentiment that sharing the intimate moment of a first look enhances rather than diminishes the specialness of the day.
The night unfolded as a grand celebration, fulfilling The Meyers’ desire for an epic party. Friends and family danced until their feet bled (literally), showcasing the love that surrounded the couple. The couple cherished every single moment of the night and shared some advice…
“Take a moment to take it in – you’ll be riding high on the absolute best day of your life so try to take some moments to pause and truly appreciate it.”
– Simmone
One of the highlights for any destination wedding photographer is the opportunity to explore new spaces. This Red Rock Resort wedding did not disappoint with inspired photography options. The creativity sparked by the unfamiliar surroundings adds an extra layer of magic to the captured moments. Simmone and Don’s wedding was no exception. The desert served as a picturesque backdrop for capturing their love, both intimate and grand. Be sure to explore their exceptionally unique wedding photos below!
BRIDE’S PEACH & PIT
PEACH: “The morning was hectic, hair and makeup ran over as it always does so it felt like a whirlwind getting dressed and heading out for our first look – it wasn’t until the ceremony, standing up at the alter and holding his hands, when my entire arms started to tingle that I felt like I could take a breath and all was OK.”
PIT: “My favorite part of the night was taking a moment to stand back and watch all of our friends and family dancing it out and having the time of their lives. And they DID! One of our guests literally danced til her feet bled.”
