Samantha & Jeff: Love on the Slopes

There’s something magical about the energy of snow-capped mountains, especially when they serve as the backdrop for milestone moments. When Samantha and Jeff invited me to photograph their snowboarding engagement session at Stratton Mountain in Vermont, I knew we were in for an unforgettable day.

Samantha and Jeff’s story is as special as the scenery we chose for their session. 

They had known each other for about ten years, thanks to Sam’s older brother, Bill, who was Jeff’s housemate at Sacred Heart University. While they were both students—Jeff graduating in 2014 and Samantha in 2017—they didn’t interact much. However, fate intervened during a snowboarding trip to Vermont in 2020, when Bill finally convinced Samantha to join the group. That trip turned out to be the catalyst for their relationship; it allowed them to connect on a deeper level and enjoy each other’s company on the slopes. Jeff’s invitation to go on a date shortly after that trip sealed the deal, and the rest is history!

This Stratton Mountain snowboarding engagement session was a blend of Sam and Jeff’s vibrant personalities and love for snow and adventure, making it not just a shoot but a true celebration of their journey together. We began in the charming town of Stratton before heading up the mountain. As I captured their candid moments against the stunning winter landscape, I couldn’t help but feel the excitement of their shared adventure.

Samantha and Jeff’s snowboarding engagement session is a perfect example of how to celebrate a relationship in a unique and personal way. It serves as a reminder to couples to think outside the box and choose settings that represent their connection. Whether it’s on the slopes, at the beach, or in a favorite city, engagement sessions can be so much more than traditional poses in a park.
