Candid Beach Family Photography
There is something magical about summer evenings at the Jersey Shore. The salty air, sandy toes, and endless opportunities for adventure make the beach one of my favorite places for family photography sessions.
This beautiful family session took place in Seaside Park, one of the Jersey Shore’s most scenic locations for beach portraits. With two energetic boys and a gorgeous summer evening, the session was filled with a perfect balance of classic family portraits and authentic candid moments.
We began with a variety of posed family photographs while everyone was still fresh and excited. These timeless portraits are always important for holiday cards, framed artwork, and preserving this season of life. Against the soft coastal backdrop, we captured a collection of images featuring the entire family as well as special moments between parents and their boys.
Once we finished the traditional portraits, it was time for the real fun to begin.
One of my favorite approaches to family photography is encouraging families to simply enjoy time together rather than focusing on the camera. This often results in the most meaningful photographs because children are free to be themselves.
The family spent time building a sand castle together along the shoreline, creating memories while I documented the genuine interactions unfolding naturally. The boys eagerly gathered sand and worked alongside their parents, creating the kind of moments that families will cherish for years to come.
As the evening continued, the older brother took on a new challenge—learning how to boogie board. With encouragement from his family and plenty of excitement, he practiced riding the waves while everyone cheered him on. These candid moments added so much personality to the session and perfectly captured what a family beach day at the Jersey Shore is all about.
The combination of posed portraits and storytelling imagery creates a gallery that feels complete. Families receive beautiful photographs for their walls while also preserving the laughter, adventure, and connection that make their family unique.
